Charles Stewart-Smith and Kirstie Hamilton bought the house off the Chinazzo family in March 2006. Most of the Chinazzos had been born in the house shortly before World War Two. Little its known of the history of the house before then, other than that it had been added to and amended many times over many years.
After putting in the swimming pool, Charles and Kirstie renovated the farmhouse first; little was changed structurally (the corridor on the first floor was the only major addition).
The conversion of the barns was far more ambitious, with much of the main barn block being pulled down and rebuilt, resulting in higher ceilings and good size rooms. The project was finally finished in early 2009 with the inaugurazione (opening party) being held on July 25 of that year.
